THE TRADITIONAL RULER OF OMOR HOST EWI OF ADO-EKITI

The traditional ruler of Omor, His Royal Highness, Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume, Eze Ana-Ukwu, EzeIgulube of Omor, Thursday 19th March 2020 played host to the chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Anambra State, Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Rufus Adeyemo AdejugbeAladesanmi III (COON, JP), Ewi of Ado-Ekiti.

The visiting monarch, who came alongside the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Greg. ChukwudiNwakoby and some members of the university governing board arrived Igulube Royal Palace amid a grand reception from the palace.

The visit specifically will be regarded as a precursor to the convocation exercise of the university where award of Higher Degrees, first degrees, diplomas and prizes will be conferred to deserving personalities.

It will be noted also that His Royal Highness Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume, Eze Ana-Ukwu, EzeIgulube of Omor will, during the convocation exercise which comes up on the 21st of March, 2020, be conferred with an Honourary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration (DBA).

In his usual grandeur way of conducting his activities as a traditional ruler of high standing, His Royal Highness, Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume, Eze Ana-Ukwu, EzeIgulube of Omor treated the visitors to a special display of Omor traditions and the highlights of the rich cultural heritage of the town.

To add colour to the event which is characteristic of Omor town, the event saw the presence of the members of the Royal Cabinet, members of the Omor Supreme Elders’ Council, NdiIchie and other special groups from the community.

Present at the event was also the members of Odudua Youth Alliance Anambra State, specifically the members of the Yoruba community resident in Omor who came to pay allegiance to the visiting monarch, a first call traditional ruler in Yoruba land.

The chancellor of the university, Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Rufus Adeyemo AdejugbeAladesanmi III (COON, JP), Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, who was particularly amazed and impressed with the grand reception accorded to him and his entourage, thanked Igwe Omor in a special way. He expressed his gratitude to the community for making his visit something memorable.

In his remark, “The traditional ruler of Omor is a man reputable for his contributions to the state and Nigeria as a whole. He is a man with an indisputable integrity. It is on that premise that we considered him worthy of the Honour of a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration” The Igwe Omor in addressing the monarch and his team noted that Omor people are known for their hospitality. He welcomed the vsitors and promised them that the gates of Omor are always open to receive them any time.

Remarkable personalities at the event were the Chairman of South East Council of Traditional Ruler and Chairman of Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, His Royal Highness, Igwe Elias Neli of Umueje, HRM Igwe P. O. Oforkansi, The Traditional Ruler of Anaku, His Majesty Igwe Alex AnakpuluEdozieuno of Aguleri-Otu, His Royal MajestyIgwe Sir BennethIzuchukwu Emeka JP (Oke-ebo II of Umueri) among others.

Highlights of the event were the display of IgbaEze Music Group and perfomances from the Yoruba Music Group.
